The, “Oh, but you like BDSM” defence

Actually, that should be the, “Oh, but you like BDSM so therefore anything you have to say is irrelevant because you’re a sick fuck” defence.

I’m not going to get into politics here, because if I see one more Fox News story making up lies about Australia’s crime rates to scare NRA members about gun control… I’m going to… it might be violent…

However, last night I got myself caught up in a discussion online, and here were three things I read that pissed me off:

  • Homosexuality is an “R-rated unnatural addiction”.
  • Black people were given the ‘privilege’ of equality, so they have no right to try and take away white people’s guns. That it’s so unfair now they have the gift of basic rights, they’re trying to take away the rights of white people. (This one was, sadly, ‘supported’ by a lengthy, and many-times-read article on a popular website.)
  • No other flag than America’s has any meaning, and no other country has ever had to fight for their independence.

I couldn’t not respond to those three points.

And you know what people came back with? Not facts, of course. Nobody thanked me for enlightening them with, you know, the truth.

All they could come up with was that my opinion is irrelevant because of things I may or may not do in my spare time. Namely, BDSM.

I know I shouldn’t engage with ignorant, arrogant bigots. I know (well, hope) they’re a dying species. I know anybody who thinks homosexual relationships are nothing more than an unnaturally addictive porn show are small, small people not worthy of my time.

But when you consider how many extreme Christians engage in some sort of freaky, God-driven Christian Domestic Discipline, calling me out for my kinks seems a little like hypocrisy.

On a funnier note, I complained on Facebook that I had to keep blocking children on various sites.

So of course, I had a schoolkid contact me to tell me how unfair I was being. Like all kids, they consider themselves mature for their age. I shouldn’t discriminate.

Personally, I think a kid should at least be over One Direction before they start getting into porn!
