Swooping Season

Unless you’re a cousin of some genius like Todd Aiken, and still believe the world is flat, you’re probably aware there’s this thing called the Equator, and that people on one side of it are currently living through the early days of spring.

For Australians, this means swooping season. Meaning: the season you can’t go outdoors without a big stick and a hat because the magpies are breeding, and they attack anything that comes near them.

For me this year – apparently – it also means: the season you can’t sleep because all the baby magpies are stupid, stay awake outside your window ALL NIGHT and go to sleep during the day.

I’m happy it’s warming up. But couldn’t we just jump straight to summer?!

I have some issues with the people who took these pictures. Why not warn the victims before the attacks instead of hiding somewhere and waiting for the magpies to get them?!

  1. Okay, I know it’s bad but this made me LOL… Do they really attack you just like that?

  2. Butterfly says:

the Chinese communities there should really develop some delicious recipe with the birds…
